Position Title:  Work Activities Coordinator

                                                                                        Pay:       $9.00 - $12.00 / hr  


* Employment Length is directly related to funding availability of the Work Activity Programs and Contracts



The primary responsibilities of the Work Activities Coordinator include providing administrative office support to the Work Activities Programs.


The Gallia County Work Activities Program is designed to assist Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and Food Assistance Employment and Training (FAET) gain the training and skills they need to become employed and retain employment, which in term will increase the work participation rates for Gallia County


The Work Activities Coordinator provides case assessments, case management and follow up of participating individuals. Assigns program individuals to specific work activities to earn the TANF or FAET assistance while they gain valuable employment skills. The Work Activities Coordinator also works cooperatively with Gallia County Department of Job & Family Services (DJFS) and the Gallia County Job Development Program to further assist program individuals to overcome personal barriers and place in lasting employment.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • • High School Diploma or equivalent
    • Degree or college coursework in administrative field preferred.
    • At least two years of related experience
    • Strong work ethic
    • Punctual and reliable
    • Ability to sit and work at a computer keyboard for extended periods of time.
    • Ability to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist and reach on a daily basis.
    • Able to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally
    • Computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, email
    • Knowledge of use of office machinery including copier, scanner, fax machine, printer, voice
    mail systems and personal computers.
    • Strong written and communication skills
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Ability to multitask
    • Organizational and time management skills
    • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
    • Must pass following checks and licensing requirements:

  •      o Background Check
  •      o Drug Screen
  •      o Valid Driver’s License and Proof of Insurance
  •      o Reference Check

Job Duties
• Answer telephone, direct calls, and take messages.
• Client evaluations
• Contact business and companies about potential work assignments
• Perform general clerical duties to include, but not limited to: sorting paperwork,
photocopying, faxing, mailing, typing and filing.
• Compile, copy, sort, and file records of program activities, participant records.
• Utilize computer and excel programs to input and track data to include participating
individuals and program assignments
• Assignment of employer work sites, and scheduling and routing of Economic Development Work
• Perform other clerical duties related to the Work Activities Program as directed by the
Economic Development Director
